PROJECT OVERVIEW
Finca Chocolat is a 515 acre (208 hectare) cacao and timber farm sitting in the eastern shadows of the Maya Mountains in the Toledo District of Belize. The farm was purchased in 2015 and the initial trees were planted in the summer of 2016. With 200+ acres in cultivation currently the cacao trees planted in the early years are coming into full production now and the remainder will follow suit over the next few years.
In addition to cacao, Finca Chocolat is intercropping Cordia alliodora (Salmwood) and Cojoba arborea (Barbajalote) hardwood trees for their symbiotic relationship to cacao as well as the financial return.
Finca Chocolat is 1.25 miles from the Southern Highway on the Barranco Road and is currently comprised of: a nursery capable of producing up to 50,000 seedlings annually, an equipment barn which houses tractors, trailers, supplies and various additional farm equipment, a drying facility and fermentation facility. There are also two 3 bedroom houses on the farm.
The farm is surrounded by a chain link fence, has electricity to all buildings, has highspeed internet, potable water system and is on an all-weather road. The management team of Finca Chocolat has an extensive background in agriculture, has been successfully growing cacao in Belize since 2010, and is personally invested in the company.
