ABOUT - TEX MAR TOO SHRIMP FARM
Tex Mar Too shrimp farm was established in 2014 on 826 acres (334 hectares), located on Old Alabama Road Flour’s Camp Area, Independence Village, Stann Creek District, was customized to be profitable yet sustainable and sensitive to the needs and aspirations. The general area where the farm is located is an open savannah ecosystem. The soil conditions in combination with the proximity of a source of seawater, made the area very suitable for shrimp farming. Tex Mar Too shrimp farm is surrounded by estuaries and other shrimp farms. Shrimp production is carried out in 12 ponds, with a semi-intensive production system.
Tex Mar Too has been approved by the Belize government to stock Redfish. With a goal to now diversify and polyculture the farm will allow for more market opportunities as well as growth into more aquaculture species.
Tex Mar Too shrimp farm receives it water from the Placencia Lagoon. Operating under a Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS), no effluents are discharged into the environment. The location of the ponds on slightly higher ground in combination with high berms and coastal barriers puts the farm operation out of reach for hurricane related flooding.
Our goal is to diversify and grow in the aquaculture sector as well as maintaining and continuing to hire more Belizean employees, offering opportunities for skilled jobs and opportunities for advancement in Aquaculture.
